Book Launch
On Sunday, at the Paris Museum, 2 pm.
Book Launch for Bob Hasler's 5th and final book in his series on Paris Junction.
"The People Who Lived in the Junction" has information on the families and individuals who lived and worked in the Junction between 1900 and 1960.
Come and meet Bob, buy an autographed copy of the book for yourself.... or for a Christmas present. 40% of the sales price goes to support the museum!

Inventors, Industries and Marketing
The pop-up exhibit on inventors, industries and marketing, organized by the Canadian Industrial Heritage Centre, partnered with the Brant Historical Society, Norfolk Heritage and Culture and the Paris Museum and Historical Society, is only going to be in Paris until the end of October!
Come and see information and items related to Cockshutt, Bell, Villa Nova Creamery, JD Adams and more.
After Paris, it is heading to Norfolk!

Culture Days Collection Tour
"See the Collection" is a tour of the back rooms in the museum.
Normally only accessed by the Curator and volunteers, we will show how our artifacts are catalogued, stored, and protected.
You will see a sampling of the vast collection we have. You also will be shown our extensive Archives.

Culture Days Downtown Tour
A period-dressed walking tour of Paris’ historic downtown focusing on businesses operating through the decades and the people who ran them.
We will be stopping to enjoy some hospitality from a few of our current businesses.
The tour begins at the Paris Museum and Historical Society, 51 William Street.
Limit of 10 participants.

Penmans Plaque Unveiling
On October 5th, a plaque will be unveiled, recognizing the 1989 designation of Penmans No. 1 as a National Historic Site.
Many in Paris have a connection to Penmans.

Speaker: Life and Times of John Penman
Dr. Fred Hopper has generously offered to share his research of John Penman with us, in advance of the book that he is writing.
John Penman was a huge influence on the development of Paris as a community, as well as being an innovative businessman.

Speaker: Ian Bell "Blind Pigs and Midnight Herring"
In the 1920s, when the U.S. was in the clutches of prohibition, Port Dover fishermen found a profitable new “catch” to fill their holds.
Stories of rum running on Lake Erie with a remarkable collection of local images. There’ll be gangsters, fishermen, revenue agents, small boys and lots and lots of booze! (to talk about)

Speaker: Abel Land
The first of our speakers in our 2024 series, Abel Land, assistant curator of the Fashion History Museum in Cambridge, will be examining the interpretation of Napoleonic British military in pop culture.
Admission is by donation, which supports events like this, as well as the preservation of Paris history.

We will be closed over the holidays, and will take this time to make some changes in the displays as well as completing some work in

Woolstock
The Bare Naked Ladies, Bob Hope and everyone's grandparents can't all be wrong! Mary Maxim sweaters are vintage styling at its best! Even in Paris, all the great people wore them including the mayor and firefighters. A display of original sweaters, vintage patterns and pattern books, camera-ready art and the history of Mary Maxim in Paris has been put together from the many objects in the collection of the Paris Museum and Historical Society. Come and have a look!


Quilt Raffle
We are raffling a beautiful Cobblestone Quilt. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. 4.5 feet by 5.5 feet. Tickets available at the fair, at the yard sale, in the museum and from members!

Paris Fair
The Paris Museum will have a table under the grandstand. We will be focusing on cobblestone buildings and construction. As well, we will be selling raffle tickets for a Cobblestone Quilt.
