A familiar piece of Paris history is returning to where its story began.
The bell from the tower of the first Paris High School, which opened on King Edward Street in 1895, is being installed once again at its original site, now home to Queensview Retirement Community.
The bell was salvaged and preserved through the foresight of Paris residents Murray Taylor and his daughter, Jean Cline (1918–2018). Their efforts ensured that this piece of the community’s history would survive for future generations.
The bell was later donated to the Paris Museum and Historical Society by the Cline family, with its restoration made possible courtesy of 214 Carson Co.
Now, the community is invited to celebrate its return.

The Paris Museum & Historical Society will mark the occasion with an unveiling on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Queensview Retirement Community, 70 King Edward Street, Paris.
